The thought behind the Bento Box series is another attempt to artistically present a years' old method or staple of Japanese history. In the 5th century , Japan's farmers, hunters, and warriors packed their lunches in sacks or boxes and brought them to the fields. This original "box lunch" has become a culinary mainstay in Japan. It is currently a rapidly growing food trend here, and worldwide.  In general, the box is divided into sections for rice, vegetables, and other food items. There are actual contests in Japan to determine the best or most artistic designs within the Bento box!
